The newly launched logo of Century II, Wichita, Kansas’ convention center, has got into a controversy of ahem… anatomical proportions.
According to its designer, the logo was inspired from the domed roof of the convention center; however critics say that it looks a bit too much like part of the female anatomy.
The launch of the new convention center logo coincided with the completion of renovation of the iconic building which has been part of Wichita skyline for 4 decades, but is now facing strong criticism from city residents and the artistic community alike.
The criticisms do not end there and some have also likened the logo design to a bowl, or even a briefcase in motion.
The city says it is assessing the comments but has not yet decided whether they are going to continue with this new logo or not.
Wichita’s design community however is committed to get it changed and have launched a website in protest. They have also appealed to the fellow designers to submit alternative logo design concepts. So far, the website has received 60+ logo entries.
