The Iowa State University Athletics department has launched a new visual identity including a fresh logo design for its sports teams.
The logo was chosen as the brand mark of ISU athletics teams through online and email polls by its fans among whom over 35,000 voted for the winning candidate. The logo has been designed by Paul Meenan, graphic designer for the Iowa State Athletics department, in consultation with a committee of campus and athletics department staff members.
The new logo features a cardinal-colored capital “I” with the word “State” superimposed over it. This logo highlights the school’s athletics colors (cardinal and gold), which were adopted at the end of the 19th century.
The new athletics logo design will be implemented on all Iowa State sports teams. The school will also adopt a new color scheme for its team uniforms, which now features a darker shade of cardinal and more extensive use of gold.
