Canada’s largest telecommunication company, Bell Canada Enterprises has today launched a new corporate brand including a new logo design, tagline and advertising campaign for several of its business units.
The telecommunications giant whose services include local, long distance and wireless phone services, high-speed and wireless Internet access, IP-broadband services, information and communications technology services (or value-added services) and direct-to-home satellite and VDSL television services has introduced an extremely simple yet versatile logo which could well be the simplest logo design among all corporations within North America.
The telecom company’s previous logo design was a relatively more complex arrangement featuring the profile of a human face. This profile represented the human side of a company whose heart of all its efforts was the customer. This human profile was surrounded by two open rings which symbolized the dynamic future of global communications.
This yellow and blue iconic logo has now been replaced with a plain blue typographic treatment. The company management working with four separate brand agencies has also come out with a new slogan: “Today is a new day.”
In an age where all business logos are going colorful, “web 2.0” and putting on a “friendly face”, Bell has gone the opposite way and have also dumped their popular, but increasingly polarizing mascot beavers, Frank and Gordon from the corporate branding.
Rick Seifeddine, Bell’s brand senior vice-president, says the new visual representation of the brand was an attempt to “really clean things up.”
